Article 27 of the Constitution of Pakistan states that ' No citizen otherwise qualified for appointment in the service of Pakistan shall be discriminated against in respect of any such appointment on the ground only of race, religion, caste, sex, residence or place of birth'.

Globally renowned economist Mr. Atif Mian, who was acknowledged as one of the 25 top bright and young economist by IMF in 2014 and is currently a professor at the prestigious Princeton University was named in the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) of Pakistan. However, pressure was exerted by certain segments of the society to remove Mr. Atif Mian on the basis of his religious background. In a tweet by one of the representatives of the ruling party, Mr. Faisal Javed Khan confirmed in a tweet that 'Atif Mian was asked to step down from the Advisory Council and he has agreed. A replacement would be announced later.'.

This is pure discrimination and bigotry on the basis of religion.

This petition is aimed to record condemnation and protest against this discriminatory decision of the Government of Pakistan.
