On Thursday 2nd April, Jack Lum Fruiterers Remuera was forced by Police to close its doors after trying to supply its customers with fresh fruit and vegetables as they have done for more than 50 years.
We believe that this arbitrary choosing of who stays open, is providing a monopoly for big businesses and is going to destroy established independent businesses.
All fruit and vegetable stores like Jack Lums should be allowed to open, so long as they follow the same safety guidelines followed by the big businesses.
We are asking that Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gets involved and let’s them re-open as they are an important and essential businesses.
