The literacy rate in Mewat is very low specially in the case of female literacy.
Literacy rate is 44.07% against State average of 67.91%,
while female literacy rate is 24.26 against State average of 55.73%.
Mewat is a historical region of Haryana and Rajasthan states in northwestern India. The loose boundaries of Mewat are not precisely determined but generally include Nuh, Palwal districts of Haryana and some part of haryana and uttar Pardesh .
Mewat has approximate population of 15 lac people mostly poor Muslims of Meo ethnicity and around 20 % non Muslims. The region roughly corresponds to the ancient kingdom of Matsya, founded in the 5th century BCE. Mewati dialect, a slight variant of the Haryanvi and Rajasthani dialects of Hindi, is spoken in rural areas of the region. Mewati Gharana is a distinctive style of Indian classical music..
The whole are have not even a single higher education institute and poor student come to study around 100 KM in Delhi NCR as these people are very poor so here is an urgent need of opening a University.
I Request Govt Of India to open a Central University In Mewat region so that social upliftment of this area is ensured.
