The government must create support for the Youth Care Leavers in India.

A Care Leaver is a young person aged between 16 - 25 who grew up under institutional care. Most care leavers receive little to no support from family. They likely have nobody checking/looked after in to see if they are okay, which during the COVID-19 pandemic makes them among the most vulnerable.
Most of the girls amongst the care leavers community are more vulnerable as they already are the victim of the patriarchy of the Indian system, and boys too as they been considered as an adult and independent but without any support they likely to be more vulnerable
The government of India and the state government of Maharashtra key duties to protect the rights of each person in the country, including responsibilities for children leaving care’ if the virus leaves local authorities unable to meet statutory duties. Every Care Leaver aged between 18 - 25 not assigned any social worker/authority who acts as an advisor and key support, if the government not appointing the duty bearer for Care Leavers, they would be left even more vulnerable.
Please sign this petition to get the government to protect the human rights of care leavers during and after COVID-19 to ensure that vulnerable young Care Leavers are not neglected.
