ormer Members of Parliament are entitled to receive pension as ex-MPs even if they are getting pension as former MLAs or MLCs, according to an RTI reply.
According to information received from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat through the RTI application, the pension of former MPs is regulated under Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act 1954.
According to the Act, a former MP getting any other pension is also entitled to receive pension as an ex-MP.
The Central government will discontinue the existing pension scheme for all employees that are recruited from/after January 1, 2004.
They will have to opt for new pension systems which will become operational from the same date, said the finance secretary DC Gupta during the 8th insurance conference of Ficci on Wednesday.
If Government and Private sector employees don't get the pension then why should MP and MLA should be entitled for pension for serving only for 5 years.
Please stop this which will increase the belief of common man on democracy.
