The petition is in reference to the letter of the Nagaland Government requesting the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer the Director General of Police (DGP) of Nagaland, Rupin Sharma of the 1992 IPS Batch stating that he is not competent. The letter also stated that Mr.Sharma had “just 26 years of experience in IPS” and that an officer needed at least 28 years in service to become a DGP.

The above cited reasons are malafide and expose the sinister design of the Progressive Democratic Alliance government of Nagaland. Rupin Sharma is known among the people of Nagaland for his honesty, people friendly style of governance and competency. He has been vocal against the rampant backdoor appointments in the Police Department which did not go well for many of the corrupt ministers. There is also a report doing the round from a reliable source that J L Longkumer IPS officer of 1991 batch who has completed 27 years in service is being recommended for the post of Nagaland DGP. This clearly contradicts the government statement of 28 years in service to become a DGP.

Deputy CM, Y. Patton, a BJP Leader who holds the Home Portfolio is the mastermind to oust the honest, competent and people friendly incumbent DGP. The image of BJP in Nagaland and North East in general is adversely affected by his irresponsible act and he is under severe criticisms from the citizens of Nagaland. He is also alleged to have facilitated illegal backdoor appointments of hundred of police personnels during his last tenure as the Home Minister. Therefore, it is in the interest of the image of the BJP and people of Nagaland that the BJP high command and Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio take necessary step to sack him from the Council of Ministers.

People of Nagaland have immense faith in the BJP high command under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi and Amit Shah that right action would be initiated against the Deputy CM, Y. Patton. This will boost up the image of the BJP and PDA government among the people of Nagaland. The popular slogan of the PDA government “zero tolerance to corruption” will also stand vindicated.
