He became an IAS officer in 2009 , was transferred 28 times during his brief tenure, collected 138 crs of tax feuds in 4 months - had a target of 1000 crs, was about to expose construction mafia in Bangalore.
Appointed as District Collector for Kolar in 2009, he fought courageously against the local sand mafia. It’s not often that people launch a protest to prevent an IAS officer from being transferred out of their district, but D.K. Ravi, during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner in Kolar, had won so many hearts that the people of Kolar came out on the streets to protest his transfer in November 2014.Though he worked for just over one year in the district, he became popular for cracking down on the sand mafia and evicting encroached government lands and tanks much to the dislike of politicians.
He was chasing builders in the Bangalore city who had been evading taxes for years, one of his colleagues told media on the condition of anonymity. The same source also said that Ravi had collected more than Rs 100 crore in outstanding tax dues from the builders. He was also planning raid on a company run by Karnataka's Home Minister Mr. George.
Ravi, a 35-year-old joint commissioner of vigilance with the commercial taxes department, was found hanging from the ceiling of his flat in Bengaluru on Monday, 16th March,2015.
Given the shady conditions of death and considering the threats Mr. Ravi was facing , we request the PM to order a CBI probe into this matter.
