The Coronovirus mayhem has affected rich and poor alike not discriminating between the developed and the developing or the urban and therural. The novel coronavirus has affected more than 4 Lakh people all around the world with more than 500 cases being registered in India.

Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has announced a three week lockdown to arrest the spread of the deadly virus and the move though appropriate at the moment has led to people crowding into the markets to procure daily essentials. The shortfall of masks and sanitisers in the market has further aggravated the situation resulting in increased vulnerability of the masses and thus defeats the very purpose the lockdown is meant to serve.

Thus I request the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Hon,ble Chief Ministers of all the States of India to take concrete steps strengthening the local administrations and directing them to ensure distribution of essential items to the households at market prices. The trucks of the local government that collect garbage from colonies can be utilised for the purpose. Also local distributors can also be roped in by the district administrations to ensure a continuous supply of daily essentials thus preventing people from flocking the markets.

The novel coronavirus requires novel strategies and we as the worlds biggest democracy and the oldest civilisation on this planet will definitely emerge victorious in this time of crisis.
