Demanding a ban on all disposable packaging in grocery shops and eateries across India

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is high time we switch to a sustainable lifestyle.

Our country is responsible for 60% of the disposable plastic that ends up in the oceans. We are raising an entire generation of children with upper respiratory disorders due to the extreme levels of pollution in our cities. Most of the packaging used by restaurants do home deliveries and take away orders is either responsible for deforestation or worse, black smoke emitting from our incinerators, our wildlife choking on plastic and our water systems getting clogged up and polluted. Same is the case with groceries packaging materials.

There already are several eco-friendly alternatives that are available and made in India for food packaging, which are completely plant based. In several cases, they even use agricultural stubble as the main ingredients in making these single use packaging, utensils and cutlery. Which is bound to help with the stubble burning issue as well.

Plastic food packaging is extremely harmful for health as well, even if we choose to turn a blind eye to the rising pollution in our country, deforestation and climate change.

Please help us, clean our environment and make India healthy again, by stopping this plastic menace.

Looking forward to a positive response.

Thanks and regards
