I'm from Kannur, North Malabar, and this is a very special case. Unlike other rural areas, Kannur Airport though in rural area deserves it because a lot of people travel to and from Kannur abroad. Do not consider Kannur as a rural area, it's a developing city and has around 25 Lac population.

As a matter of fact, Foreign airlines are interested to operate from Kannur. Then why is the centre giving absurd reasons for.not giving the permission.
