Rajon (13 Years): If Death is the penalty for stealing, what should be the punishment for killing??

The cold blooded murderers of Rajan (13) captured the disturbing assault on mobile and uploaded it on internet for all of us to see. Which many of us not even dare to open after seeing only few snap-shots of it.

Rajan, who had studied up to grade four at a local primary school, was a vegetable vendor. His father Sheikh Azizur Rahman is a driver. He was beaten to death on July 8 on accusations of stealing a rickshaw van at Kumargaon of Sylhet Sadar Upazila.

With utter astonishment and incredulity, A 28-minute long video was filmed on the day by the assaulters and uploaded to show their so called bravery as well as how Rajon was subjected to barbaric torture before he succumbed to his injuries. Few simple questions arise from the whole event, “Are we even Human”, “Should we just watch the video and not even take any action against it”??

The jittery video done with a mobile phone showed Rajon being tied to a pillar of Sundar Ali Market while five to six people beat and tortured him in various ways. Every time Rajon cried out in pain, the torturers were heard to laugh loud. They even made fun poking him in his private parts. The video shows the boy tied up to a pole of a shop at Kumargaon Bus Station. Two people can be seen, but voices of at least three to four people can be heard. One of the men is seen beating Rajan, asking him to tell his name, admit that he stole the van and tell who else were involved.

In the footage, the boy is seen being beaten with a stick for almost 16 minutes at a stretch. When Rajan wants some water, the men tell him to drink his own sweat n urine.

Rajan screams while his tormentors burst into laughter and swear at him in the 28-minute clip. His left hand and right leg are wrung and the head, stomach and nails hit with the stick.

The people involved in this atrocious act have now been arrested, but what next. They will be freed soon and may not even get punished for their heinous crime.

But together we want to say, they should face strongest punishment possible for their crime. Our petition is to reflect the fact that how we together show our revulsion towards this heinous act and expectation of a quick judicial outcome with strong verdict against the perpetrators.

Please sign the petition and help many other Rajon’s not to perish like this ever again. If this ferocious killers get away with such crime, remember the next target could be someone very close to us.
