Abolish draconian laws preventing people from being their true selves.

In Australia, transgender people are faced with extreme requirements to change their gender on legal documents such as birth certificates. In all states and territories, excluding South Australia and the ACT, transgender individuals must be over 18, must divorce if married, and must undergo sexual reassignment surgery (SRS), all to change a simple document. This is tedious and redundant, as SRS is extremely expensive, costing up to $30,000 including health insurance coverage. It also can take up to twelve months to receive coverage, and SRS requires multiple therapy sessions afterwards. Help me abolish this idiotic law, by signing this petition. Results will be sent to the Attorney General of each state, excluding SA and ACT, and the Prime Minister himself, Malcolm Turnbull. Please share, and together we can get this transphobic requirements annulled.
