As you know stray dog population is on the increase in Delhi and country as a whole. There are more than 225 cases of dog bite in Delhi every day according to a report published in the Hindustan Times dated 17th July, 2017.
Apart from this, presence of stray dogs in residential areas litters the streets with dog excreta and urination. Mission. People throw some food along with wrappers at stray dogs out of pity. And the dogs fight among themselves to share food. The result is that some food is eaten and some gets strewn around on the streets. This presents an ugly scene apart from the foul smell emanating from dog’s excreta and urination.
This militates against the objective of Swachh Bharat. This means Swachh Bharat Mission cannot succeed as long as there are stray dogs in residential areas.
“A practical solution would be to shift the stray dogs from residential areas to a specially-created reserve park where they can be properly sterilised and cared for. "
