I was told by a Policewoman when i walked in to ask for assistance that "people believe that the police are proactive but that is wrong we are reactive".

I walked out of the Police Station that day extremely puzzled and disappointed. If one cannot rely on the Police Force to uphold a crime-free society be it through a proactive approach or a reactive approach then who can we rely on?

I have lost count of how many times over the years i have watched a Police Officer read an apologetic statement about their failure to respond in timely fashion with a promise that LESSONS HAD BEEN LEARNED.

There are many families in our communities who would not be mourning loved ones if the Police Force had been PROACTIVE.

In some countries, police officers are paid money 'off the record' a.k.a 'greasing the palm' by members of the public to get assistance, thankfully that is not a known practice in the UK but the problem with that is we all become 'sitting ducks' when we have issues that the police refuse to address.

My home has been broken into persistently since September. 2012; 7+ years on and i have had no assistance from the police. I feel helpless. I want to see a Police Force that is both proactive and reactive.
