Local Covid restrictions prevent any walkers and climbers from accessing the great outdoors in particular hills and mountains: going for a walk in the mountains is not an essential activity unless you are an elite athlete. Walking running and climbing can be undertaken in the outdoors without close interaction. Covid is being transmitted indoors not outdoors in the wind and rain! Restricting people from exercise is seriously damaging to their well being. The risks these hobbies pose is minimal when the outdoors is open for access. These restrictions create bottle necks in other adjacent areas where there are no restrictions and any concentration of people in car parks or on narrow congested paths is creating a risk. Keep the outdoors open for exercise for everyone all of the time: make exercising in hills and mountains an essential activity for all not just elite athletes.
