Simon Cowell has made a massive contribution to the media industry. He supports many charities of which people are unaware. His programmes have been franchised world wide and have made a huge difference to participants, their families and supporters and the public. He takes excellent care of his contestants many of whom struggle with the adverse media attention they receive.  Like many other media moguls he has made substantial sums of money from these programmes but he is stymied by the demands of advertisers. He is by no means the richest man in the world and do not forget the almost fatal accident he had on an electric scooter. This impacted tremendously upon him and his friends and family. By sheer willpower he was back working in a timescale which was astonishing. There are many others far less worthy who have been knighted. He has said that he has not sought such an honour but he absolutely deserves it.
