Today 8/9/2022 Ford Motor Company announced pricing on the 2023 Ford Lightning with up to an $8500 price hike. They hiked the price from $6000 - 8500 above the original pricing and reservation holders are now completely left in the dark.

Ford Director of product communications for North America Mike Levine says on twitter today "Vehicle orders to date are either unaffected or will receive a private offer. New orders for reservation holders WILL BE AT NEW PRICING."

This news nearly negates any positive benefit of a current or future tax credit. It also is a huge slap in the face to early reservation holders who were NEVER invited to order despite being amongst the first to reserve. Ford stubbed nearly all reservation holders especially the earliest of those many of which have never been invited to order despite being within the first hour, day, week. 

Not only did Ford increase prices across the board upwards towards $8,000 (Nearly 17%) from 2022 quoting "supply chain" and "high demand" they released information saying the original price was only going to be honored for ORDERS currently in process or for those "invited" but who deferred - Not regular reservation holders.This means ALL of the reservation holders who deposited their money to Ford and never were invited to order are now completely left in the dark and forced to pay $7000-8000 more for the same truck. That is not the price it was reserved at! Even GM (Hummer) and Rivian honored early reservation holders original pricing. How can a massive company with a footprint like Ford turn a blind eye to their most passionate consumers? This is a sure way to damage brand and turn people away from the name at a time when competition is not only increasing, but watching. 

“Current order holders awaiting delivery are not impacted by these price adjustments,” Marin Gjaja, chief customer officer, Model e, said. “We’ve announced pricing ahead of re-opening order banks so our reservation holders can make an informed decision around ordering a Lightning.”

Myself, and many others around the US are early reservation holders. Many who reserved this truck with the utmost excitement minutes, hours, and a few days after the announcement. I reserved in the first few minutes on day on 05/19/2021. There is without question a large amount of lightning owners who reserved many months later and were invited to order. This is a bogus and unfair system and the LEAST ford can do is honor reservation holder pricing. Thousands of consumers who reserved this truck earlier than those "invited" to order who reserved later get screwed. On top of that, we all have to navigate the insanity of markups and dealer greed at a personal and state level. 

This petition serves to encourage Ford to honor and credit the early reservation holders for the original lightning price - not JUST active orders. At the very minimum, the reservations made in the first few days or week. The 2023 pricing should ONLY apply to those who have NOT as of this day placed a deposit and had a reservation.
