A developer is proposing to build a 24-hour, large-scale gas station on Hwy 12 beside the vet's office. This agricultural land is above the town aquifer, adjacent to the Connecticut river, and if it were developed into a gas station, not only will would the development threaten water quality, it would be lighted and functional for 24-hours a day, creating a traffic bottleneck, nighttime noise, and a visual eyesore.
Local residents of our beautiful community, will you please join me in signing this petition? We, the undersigned residents of Walpole, North Walpole, and Drewsville support the current Town of Walpole Zoning Ordinance and we are opposed to allowing a Special Exception and/or a Variance which would allow a Filling Station & Convenience Store with Drive Through, (Commercial Use), to be built at the intersection of RT. 12 and South St./Walker Rd. on Rural/Agricultural Zoned Land.
