Healthcare professionals are best equipped to establish policies and procedures to help prevent and contain Covid 19.  Armed with knowledge of the history of public health crises and the most current and effective treatment options, the health department is perfectly poised to be the gold standard for establishing procedures for treating and preventing the spread of disease.

In contrast, few legislators have the background to understand the complexities of disease progression, the potential outcomes on public health,, or the most effective measures to predict treatment outcomes. Legislators as a group are simply not equipped to establish and implement effective policies for disease control.
