At any given time today in America, there are about half a million people who are "homeless" -- they don't have a “permanent, safe, decent, affordable place to live.” Around the world there are about 100 million homeless people, and many of them are women and children.

After watching Trouble in the Water, and realizing this catastrophe has not been dealt with correctly by the government is aggravating. This happened when Bush was in office, so why is it over five years later and these people are in the same situation as they were two months after this disaster. Help these people! our government is so concerned with being overseas, and loaning money from China, just to send money to them to help them. What idiots who make decisions for our country! We should have a say in where our money is spent. HELP AMERICANS FIRST! Take care of the people who give you the power you have, or we will TAKE IT AWAY!

Cooperatives offer a tested solution to this community's troubles, but they need intervention to make that solution a reality.

As a New Orleans native with many family members affected by Katrina, I am sick of seeing corrupt officials and profiteers take advantage of people's misfortune and vulnerability. Sick of it! The spotlight is on you now; do the right thing.

The people are in need of assistance and protection from companies that are out for profit. When does the well being of our citizens become more important than making money?

The federal government needs to follow through and protect the interests of these residents from the criminal actions of their local elected officials.
