Brian Taylor started this petition to Prestatyn town council

For many years, the local council in Prestatyn has held a Remembrance Parade in the afternoon culminating in a two minutes silence at 3pm. This is not in line with other towns and cities, who hold the parade annually in the morning, before the two minutes silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month. It is thought that the Prestatyn Royal British Legion is the only branch to hold it at this time, traditionally because it fit with the 119 REMI Unit, who held a service at their base in Holywell in the morning and then another in Prestatyn in the afternoon. This is no longer the case. Many locals now feel that holding the service and silence in the afternoon undervalues the tradition and significance of the day of remembrance, which is to honour and remember the brave veterans of the armed forces, and all of those who gave their lives. Surely it is time to put the wishes of the veterans above the wishes of others and revert to the standard time of the silence at 11am, preceded by the parade. Thank you for reading.
