We, the undersigned alumni of the University of Saint Thomas (Houston), are convinced that there is a problem with the UST presidential search.
We have learned that Fr. Anthony Giampietro C.S.B., the only candidate nominated by the Basilians for the presidency, has been passed over as a finalist and not afforded an on-campus interview. There has always been a Basilian finalist and Fr. Giampietro is an outstanding and accomplished candidate who has all the qualifications required for an exceptional president. This gives us great concern for the future of UST.
We do not understand why this has happened. We find this particularly troubling in light of the University's current financial difficulties and the faculty vote of No Confidence in the current president last spring.
We ask that Fr. Anthony Giampietro be accorded full consideration by bringing him to campus as a finalist for the presidency.
Crescamus in Christo,
The Alumni of the University of Saint Thomas (Houston)
