End Tyranny, End the Mask Mandate

We the people; The students of Northeastern State University, the residents of Tahlequah Oklahoma petition to end the Mask Mandate on our campus. We believe the mandate to be in direct violation to our God given right to Liberty (the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behavior, or political views. Dictionary Definition) as stated in the United States Declaration of Independence from Great Britain:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

We believe this mandate to be not only in opposition to Liberty but also unsupported by factual data therefore rendering it untrustworthy and unnecessary. The data being collected and released to the public concerning COVID-19 and the effectiveness of masks has thus far been contradictory and conflicting not only among those releasing the data but also among doctors across the globe. We also believe the Mask Mandate has crossed the lines from merely a medical issue to a political, social, and ethical issue.

Simply put; people should not be forced to wear a mask if it is not supported by factual scientific data. People should not be forced to wear a mask if it contradicts what they believe. People should not be forced to wear a mask because of another person imposing their belief. People should not be forced to wear a mask AT ALL. Repeal the Mask Mandate and leave it up to each individual to decide what is best for them.
