We are in favor of the proposed casino to be built in St. Tammany Parish for the following reasons:

1. Economic opportunities to bring jobs to St. Tammany Parish

2. Keeps residents money in the parish instead of Mississippi

3. increased police presence will serve the casino as well as surrounding neighborhoods because patrols will need to be on both sides of our neighborhood at the twin span and Highway 11 Bridge

4. Provides a local venue for our aging citizens that are not comfortable leaving the immediate area

So many jobs gave been lost from COVID and the oil and gas industry and those employees that are nearing retirement age have an alternative to searching for another specialized industry skilled position and can easily assume the opportunities within the casino, vendors and related operation.

Having an increased revenue base allows the Parish to use the funds for upgraded roads, drainage, provide added income to our police and other security personnel.

The addition of the casino will also attract new businesses, visitors to the city and promote our city for newcomers to add to our citizen economic base with retirement funds lowering the chance for foreclosures and other personal financial pitfalls that are common among younger population.
