The PAFL (Philippine-American Football League) was established on September 30, 2016, as a sports league for both home-grown Filipino athletes, as well as athletes from different countries, to foster friendly competition, camaraderie, community service, and personal growth through playing American Football.
Though the sport American Football is relatively young and new to the Philippines, we have a growing community of active players (400+), countless inactive players and supporters that believe in our mission and vision, which is to grow the sport of American Football the righteous way, for all to love and enjoy, regardless of financial background and previous experience.
All of our athletes are constantly being groomed to becoming a perfect ambassador of the sport, on and off the field, as role models to the youth and their respective communities. Our training is always free for all, and open to all males and females of all ages, which is great for the community to get fit together and learn a new sport and hopefully to fall in love with the game.
As we enter our second season of American Football (Season 2 will start August and end by December) we have seen growth of new teams, not only in Manila, but also in Cavite, as well as cities down South who have constantly kept in touch with us, asking us to build teams in their cities (Cebu, Ilo Ilo, Dumaguete, Iligan, Butuan, Davao, and many more).
Filipinos are now starting to embrace the American Football culture, not only as a hobby, but as a competitive sport where these athletes (70 percent students, 30 percent working professionals) are dedicating their weekends to training with their teams in preparation for the upcoming season.
Currently, the PAFL is the one and only American Football League in the Philippines, and with Season 2 just around the corner, we are about to conquer our first milestone as being the largest American Football League in Philippine History.
As we continue to grow, we would like to ask for more support from the Philippine Government, specifically for the PSC/POC/IOC to sanction us, the PAFL, as the governing body of American Football in the Philippines, and maybe even sponsor us with a venue sponsorship for our teams trainings and games.
Any help we receive from the Philippine Government can go a long way, whether it be with the development of new athletes, as well as the development of a National Team that may compete against our surrounding SE Asian countries who also have established American Football teams, any help would be greatly appreciated.
We are hoping for your kind consideration to sign this petition and help continue the growth of American Football Athletes in the Philippines.
Thank you for your time.
