Clarens Calica started this petition to President Rodrigo Duterte

Rice Tariffication law was signed of President Duterte last February 2019. This law will remove the limitation of exportation of rice in our country. The Tariffication law, which will replace the present quotas on rice import with tax, removes the NFA's power to import and distribute cheaper grain, leaving it with the solve task of buying grain from farmers to maintain buffer stocks, said agency administrator Tomas Escortez. It will directly affect 400 employees of the industry regulation divison, as well as those tasked with operation Escortez said.

Local farmers are suffering because of this law. They are struggling in their profit and livelihood. How this farmers can survive on this? How can they send their children in school? This petition is to share awareness on how little they were earning since this rice tariffication law implemented last 2018. This is unfair for the rice farmers to day and work for their livelihood and gain nothing from it. Allowing cheaper foreign imports to pour in without preparation for local farmers could hurt their livelihood. This rice tariffication are favorable in bussinessmans than farmers. The NFA is talked to stabilize prices by buying grain from farmers and selling it at 27 pesos and 32 pesos, cheaper compared to commercial rice. It is a short term solution because of destruction of rice production. The long term solution is to urge local government to buy from local farmers. Also to support rice farmers, people can also buy locally produced rice instead of imported rice.

Please help our local farmers about this problem. Various organization and netizens have slammed the rice tarifficaion law, planning out how filipino farmers were severely affected by its implementation. We need to address the issue as soon as possible. Share this awareness about local farmers
