The proposed open cast copper mine in Lower Zambezi National Park will be catastrophic to the habitat, environment, water and fish resources, wildlife, tourism and the people who rely on tourism for jobs and those people who live around the area.

The project has been given approval of the Appeals Court of Zambia and is therefore set to begin at some stage soon by Grand Resources Ltd of Dubai.

Both The Zambezi Society and Southern Africa Resource Watch have condemned the project, which is opposite Mana Pools - a UN World Heritage Site.
