Hello, I'm Ori Rowe, co-founder of Black Women Lead Black Femme Fund and the creator of the Stop Killing Black Women Initiative.

Black women are 3.5 times more likely to be murdered by men than white women. More than 92% of these killings were intra-racial, which means that they were committed by a black man against a Black woman.

More than 40% of Black women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, according to the Institute of Women’s Policy Research’s Status of Black Women in the United States. In comparison, 31.5% of all women will experience domestic violence. A report from the National Center for Victims of Crime found that 53.8% of Black women had experienced psychological abuse, while 41.2% of Black women had experienced physical abuse. Most of the deaths of Black Women and girls are caused by gun violence due to

Domestic violence. DV is rampant in the Black community.

We need a domestic violence registry that will ensure the public is made aware of convicted offenders regardless of gender, race, or any other factors. Every person who is arrested, charged, and convicted of domestic violence and crimes related to domestic violence will need to be on this public registry that is available to the public just like the sex offender registry.
