Beauty Standards have always been toxic in America but they are starting to get to other places and making people of other races to change their appearance due to being shamed or not looking "pretty" because they don't look like a white person. Not only that but men get shamed for wearing makeup when makeup is not meant for one gender, but for anyone. It wrong that people get shamed for expressing themselves and feeling comfortable with their appearance. Some men and woman change everything about them for the validation of their peers and still get called out for features they cant change about themselves. In adds for beauty products they mainly show a white woman with nice straight hair or they will show a black woman getting her frizzy hair straight instead of keeping their hair as is and just defining the curls. This starts at a young age, children see it on tv and think on how they can look better. Things like this ruins your self esteem growing up always making you feel like your not good enough because you have features that are "ugly" when really you should be confident because everyone is pretty in their own way.
