Stop Abusing Sloths!

Stop Abusing Sloths!
Why this petition matters

There are less than 100 Pygmy Three-Toed Sloths in the wild. That is one to ten percent of the population of an average town. We have to act now, and act fast.
Sloths are one of the most misunderstood animals. No, they are not lazy. They are just conserving energy. It can take up to a month for a sloth to digest a single leaf, so they don’t have much energy to use. This is why they cannot stay on the ground. If a predator finds them, they have almost no way of escaping.
Guess what?! For sloths to be in trees, there has to be actual trees. So I encourage you to reduce the amount of paper you use. Trees are not only important to sloths, but to many other animals too. Including us, or any other thing that breathes oxygen. But that’s not my goal for this petition.
They always look happy, but they aren’t always happy. Their permanent smile on their face hides it, but sloths don’t like being touched. They could DIE from the stress. They also don’t like being with a lot of other sloths (in nature, it’s very rare to see them with more than one other sloth), or almost anywhere that is not a tree. As much as it doesn’t look like it, they are very uncomfortable when they are in buckets, blankets, stuffed animals, or (especially) being held or touched by people. They have no way of defending themselves.
People capture sloths, and hold them, which cause some to die, and put them in a bag. Imagine being grabbed out of your house, put in a bag, and taken to a place where giants grab you and take photos, but you can’t fight back. Sloths are much more sensitive to stress, so imagine what that’s like for them.
By signing this petition, you are helping sloths have the voice they don’t have. I demand that it is made illegal to own a sloth. They should be kept in their natural habitat, instead of being used as pets like they don’t have feelings.
Please help, and give the sloths the voice they deserve.
