The Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert Wilkie, a member of the US Cabinet, has abused his power against a victim of sexual assault.

An investigation into the event which occurred at the Washington DC VA hospital, resulted in no charges - because cameras that could have substantiated the assault were broken. Wilkie "gaslighted" both the survivor and the Task Force on Women Veterans of the US House of Representatives with whom she is employed as a Senior Policy Advisor.

The Chief investigator made it clear to Sec. Wilkie that not filing charges did not mean the event did not occur, but that they were unable to gather necessary evidence to find and prosecute the perpetrator. Had the cameras for which Wilkie's department was responsible been working, the outcome may have been different.

Wilkie's behavior exactly mirrors the retaliatory responses survivors of assault face in the US military.

It has further been revealed that Wilkie personally sought information to discredit and intimidate the victim of the attack. Sexual assault survivors face enough barriers without extraordinarily powerful people trying to destroy them.

This man occupies a Cabinet post and has blatantly abused his position and failed in his responsibilities.  He should resign or be fired immediately.
