Replace All Public Confederate Imagery With Imagery Of Famous Rappers
Why this petition matters
After an unspeakably horrific event that was the murder of George Floyd, we as a society have come to realize what we should do about images in public that depict people who did similar things in the past. There are plenty of statues and things named after of Confederate generals who wanted to break away from America to do the worst possible things to vulnerable people. Yet somehow, in 2020, in a society that overwhelming rejects racism, they are still there. We need a solution, honor our favorite rappers instead. From old school rappers like Biggie and Tupac to modern day hits like Roddy Ricch and Polo G, they all play a big role in our society. These people have done so much to give African American culture the attention it deserves. Many of them have come from communities that have it not nearly as well as the average American. Many have very touching stories. For example, a young man going by the name of Keith Cozart grew up in a housing project surrounded by violence, he would go on the be legendary drill rapper Chief Keef earning more money than he could have ever imagined in the process. Although this petition will more than likely amount to nothing as there are so many pieces of Confederate imagery, different communities will do things differently and there is no reasonable way for the government to storm in towns that do not comply; at least we are heard.
