Mr. President, let Puerto Rican federal employees help Puerto Rico

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

Puerto Rican federal employees are uniquely qualified to assist in the recovery efforts for Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Being already vetted, background checked, bilingual and knowing the island's roads and topography can help immensly the coordination of aid distribution efforts with the local authorities who might not be able to adequately communicate in english. Many federal employees have volunteered to participate in the FEMA Surge Capacity Force program only to be denied participation based on widespead refusal to issue federal travel cards among the management of various federal agencies. This card is a requirement of the Surge Capacity Force. We ask your support in prioritizing this Puerto Rican and other billingual employees with experience in servicing the Puerto Rican community by minimizing bureauocratic barriers. The People of Puerto Rico needs help and we can help deliver it in a fast and efficient way.
