It is time to protect our most precious resource: OUR CHILDREN. I am appealing to the very highest office of the land as well as state legislators to enact a ban on the use of spanking as a form of discipline. Study upon study has proven not only does spanking not work, this archaic method of discipline actually has the adverse affect of causing aggression in children and causing them to seek abusive relationships as adults both as victims and abusers. Hitting your spouse is considered domestic abuse and has been criminalized. Why do we not afford children the same protection under the law? Spanking=hitting=abuse. No more excuses. 

Harmony Montgomery is a missing American child whose father has admitted to “spanking and bashing her”. She has been missing for TWO YEARS and the system is just now taking action to discover her whereabouts.  I propose we honor Harmony Montgomery by establishing a law against spanking in her name and for the sake of all children everywhere in America. Stand with me to implore lawmakers to create ‘Harmony’s Law’ which will make spanking a felony offense and work towards a better future for America’s children.  Our children deserve to feel safe in their homes.
