Kathryn MacDonald started this petition to President of the United States and

I have made it my mission to fight for the next generation on Earth. We are the people, and together we must stand strong in saving our planet. Without protecting Earth, we will not exist.

Throughout 2020 and 2021 global panic struck; thousands lost their jobs, families began to struggle tremendously, food was slim and isolation was enforced. However as we begin to regain stability in our lives, many have not taken into consideration the damage, as well as the benefits Covid-19 had on our planet.

Over the time we have experienced coronavirus, according to ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, *linked below* lack of travel has improved air quality in different cities across the world, reduced GHGs emission, lessened water pollution and noise; as well as reduced the pressure on the tourist destinations, thus lessening the waste put into our oceans.

However due to ‘stay at home’ mandates, energy and water bills have sky rocketed, we have seen an extreme rise in medical waste, disinfectants, masks, and gloves; and the burden of continuous untreated wastes continuously endangering the environment.

Through this time, our planet has continued to die around us. According to panda.org *linked below* The rapid loss of species today is estimated by experts to be between 1,000 and 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate.

If the low estimate of the number of species out there is true - if there are around 2 million different species on our planet -  then that means there are between 200 and 2,000 extinctions every year!

But if the upper estimate of species numbers is true - that there are 100 million different species trying to co-exist with us on Earth - then between 10,000 and 100,000 species are becoming extinct each year.

Join the fight to have the government take action in protecting the future of our children, and of our planet. If we don't fight for our planet, our children and their children may  have no future at all.
