Why is it that there are laws protecting all of America's symbols of freedom except the flag. The Liberty bell has armed guards day and night, bald eagles have The Lacey Act this makes it a  Federal offense to take, possess, transport, sell, import, or export their nests, eggs and parts. But the flag has nothing to protect from people disrespectfully burning it in protest. According to The Courier-Journal over 25,000 flags were burned in 2019 alone. According to ISidewith.com 67% of Americans think that it is ok to burn the flag. The flag represents every person, man or woman who has fought and died to protect our freedoms. And for many parents it is what the son or daughter died for and for many it’s all they have left of them.

Things like this aren’t going to go away overnight 

We need a law to stop this to protect the flag. You can still use your freedom of speech without disrespecting the men and women who keep your freedom of speech safe. You can still protest, and march without burning the flag. The problem is that we have condoned this so much that people think that it is OK. We have made it a regulated occurrence and praised.

I want you to realize that the American flag isn’t just a piece of cloth. It represents all the men and women who have died for our freedoms and we need to stop disrespecting them
