CLEMENCY for Ricardo Riojas 77 year old elderly inmate serving LIFE for Marijuana

I am the daughter of Ricardo Riojas, 77 year old man who has served over 23 years in a federal prison. My father was sentenced  to life without the possibility of parole for a marijuana-only drug conspiracy charge.

My father is in very poor physical condition.  He’s undergone surgery while in custody, he has difficulty walking, he uses a walker and sometimes a wheel chair to get around.  In addition, he has a stomach ulcer, bradycardia, glaucoma, cataracts, and last month he was diagnosed with renal failure.

Despite requiring the need of a wheelchair, he insists on trying to walk with the assistance of a walker only to complain about the aches and pains to his body afterwards.  I know he is just trying to be strong for his family and trying to not show weakness in the prison.  But, I know him better than most.  He is very sick, fragile, and weak.  He is also very scared, and I am very scared for him.  It pains me to say this, but I am afraid my father does not have many days left.  I have seen my father deteriorate into a feeble, sick, scared, old man who cannot walk under his own power.

I strongly believe that in 23 years he has repaid his debt to society.  If the 23 years are deemed insufficient, imagine his last few years in prison.  Imagine being sick, weak, having vision problem, unable to move without assistance, knowing that you’re the most vulnerable… a true living nightmare.  Living under these conditions only serves to aggravate his existing illnesses.

We are asking for President Trump to grant clemency to my father so that he can have an opportunity to come home to his loving wife, 4 daughters and 11 grandchildren.
