Why this petition matters

Started by robert Saalfrank

Seaira Rathburn, 5 1, 98 POUNDS, Brown hair shoulder-length hair, Blue/green eyes, scar on her left eyebrow...MISSING SINCE 2/1/2022. LAST SEEN ON 26TH AND G Lawton, Oklahoma wearing jeans, t-shirt, sneakers, black winter coat

This information is more than enough for law enforcement to issue an amber alert. However like Hundreds of children daily she is deemed a possible runaway and no alert was issued.

This child is one of the thousands that go missing every year. Everyone knows that the first 72 hours are the most critical & the first 48 even more so. Too often the first 48 hours of these missing person investigations are wasted by Law Enforcement who assume they are just another runaway as Amber-Alerts are issued primarily for minors who have been abducted.

The time has come to DEMAND a response. Is it really that hard to edit a simple alert to include two single words, "possible runaway"?

Regardless of why they are missing, these are minors we are talking about. Our children. The ones we are supposed to protect.  How do we do that?

Simple, with a Federal mandate issued by the President that an Amber Alert be automatically issued upon notification of a missing child regardless of why.
