Terry Hennessy started this petition to President of the United States

Riley Howell, age 21, a student at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, rushed toward a gunman who had opened fire on students at the University on April 29, 2019. Howell and another student were killed in this attack along with 4 others injured. His actions likely saved many lives.

Kendrick Castillo, age 18, was 3 days away from his High School graduation. On Tuesday May 7 at STEM School Highlands Ranch in Denver, two students at the school started shooting in classrooms. Castillo, along with other students, lunged toward the attacker in his classroom in an attempt to try and get the gun and subdue the attacker. Castillo was killed in this attack but the actions of him and his fellow classmates no doubt saved many lives as well.

Both of these students, one in college the other just finishing high school, are true American heroes and gave their lives in order to save their fellow students and teachers.

This petition is to request the Presidential Medal of Freedom be awarded posthumously to each of these young men to honor the selfless sacrifices they made.
