John Smith started this petition to President of the United States and

As the Commanding Officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt,  Captain Crozier was charged with the safety and wellbeing of over 3500 Sailors while forward deployed during the global Coronavirus pandemic. When Sailors on board began testing positive for the virus,  Capt Crozier pleaded for the ship to be allowed to pull into port and quarantine the sick crewmembers and to sanitize the ship. Making this request shows how deeply he cares for his crew.  He knew that this could mean repercussions for himself but he disregarded those risks and put the lives of his crew first.

Capt Crozier is the type of leader Sailors respect and the type of leader the Navy needs.  The Navy Cross is awarded to those whose acts to be commended must be performed in the presence of great danger or at great personal risk and must be performed in such a manner as to render the individual highly conspicuous among others of equal grade, rate, experience, or position of responsibility.  During a global pandemic, Capt Crozier risked his career to protect the lives of his crew.

Today he was relieved of his command because some "lost confidence in his ability to lead". On the contrary,  he is exactly the type of leader,  Captain and Commanding Officer that Sailors trust most.  Who knows how many lives he saved through his actions.
