After Texas passing an extremely cruel and unjust ban on abortion starting after 6 weeks (which is a period of time in which most people do not even know they are pregnant), it is clear that the fight for reproductive rights can no longer wait. This ban is cruel in that it does not make any exceptions for rape or incest, meaning that any victims of this will have to either get an out of state abortion or carry the pregnancy to term. This abortion ban is inhumane for several reasons: many pregnancies pose dangers and even death to the birthing person, and it would also mean that literal CHILDREN may be forced to give birth that could cause in physical and emotional damage and even death. It violates consent, free will, and people’s right to choose parenthood, something low-income people may not be able to afford in some instances. This will also disproportionately affect Black and Latinx communities in that many of us already face barriers to healthcare and financial difficulties, meaning that an out of state abortion may not be viable. 

Texas is the second largest state in the United States, and after this cruel ban many other red conservative states are bound to attempt to follow suit and perhaps even succeed in banning all abortions altogether. This is why I am asking President Biden to stand with people capable of pregnancies everywhere in the U.S. and fight for reproductive rights for all. An executive order by the president is one of the few constitutional ways to override this ban, but most importantly, an executive order could be the step we as U.S. Americans need to protect reproductive rights. This would also be a great way for President Biden to show his solidarity with people that are capable of pregnancy, pregnant, and birthing people everywhere and to show the American public that he cares about his citizens enough to allow our  to make our own decisions concerning our bodies.
