A National Slavery Memorial made of melted down Confederate war memorials.

The presence of Confederate war memorials is not acceptable. But to simply remove them is NOT enough. When they are removed they are often relocated to other public spaces. This is no less offensive to the countless people in this country who's ancestors were the very slaves the Confederacy was fighting to keep.
If those who wish to keep these memorials truly feel this way out of fear of erasing history, then I have a solution.
Let us melt these memorials down and use the same materials to build a National Slavery Memorial. Let us take these idols of hatred and oppression and turn them into something positive. Let us use those materials as a memorial to those who suffered, to those who wore the chains and took the lash of the whip.
Let's honor them, and use this National memorial as a stepping stone future generations can learn from.
