Resolve Crisis In Public Health Facilities

This petition had 1,264 supporters

The paralysis of public health facilities due to the ongoing nationwide nurses' strike is unacceptable. Now heading to it's third month, we are already in a crisis as a country but our leaders are silent on this.

Everyday, mothers lose babies as they scramble for the limited options of delivery in the two referral hospitals. The private health facilities are also overstretched with the few who can scrape and scrounge a few coins to access them. Many lives are being lost, while thousands are suffering due to lack of health services.

Our leaders are hard on the campaign trail. Not even the recent public debates are addressing this matter. Many Kenyans are unaware that health is a right protected by the Constitution 2010 under Chapter Four of the Bill of Rights.

Article 43:

(1) Every person has the right--

(a) to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health care services, including reproductive health care;

By signing this petition, you and I are telling the President of the Republic of Kenya to step in and address this crisis.
