I just signed the following petition addressed to Romania's president Traian Băsescu and prime minister Victor Ponta.

Copies sent to the European Commission and Norwegian authorities/politicians.

The abuse and suffering of Romanian animals have to stop!

Romania get loads of money from other countries. In 2012 alone Norway handed out 315.378.577,47 EUR (2.300.000.000 NOK) to Romania, but more and more people learn about how you treat your weakest. I don’t want to be part of this.

I condemn the behaviour towards animals in Romania supported by you. Also as a member of the European Union you must strive to meet the highest standards of animal welfare.

The only solutions proved to work in other countries are neutering campaigns and educating the people about animal welfare.

Don't hunt stray animals and kill them. Don’t store and abuse animals in public shelters until they die in agony from starvation, wounds and lack of decent lives.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." (Gandhi)

I hear the stories, I see the proof and I feel the pain.

Please make a change, and make it now.
