Youth of Jammu and Kashmir started this petition to President of India, Prime Minister of India, Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir

We the students of Jammu and Kashmir request the Government of India to revoke the decision of introducing a domicile law which is unfair and discriminatory. After the revocation of Article 370, which protected the interests of people of Jammu and Kashmir, we were promised that our domicile rights will be protected. But at a time, when the entire world is battling Corona Virus, a law has been introduced which is a representative heuristic of protection of domicile rights of permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir. The time at which the law has been introduced is culpable. The government needs to understand that there is a huge unemployment problem in Jammu and Kashmir, and with the introduction of the new domicile law, things are only going to get worse for us. This law is a transgression against the highly qualified unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir. The new domicile law redefines the permanent residents of Jammu & Kashmir and the job reservations are kept only up to Level 4 of government service which is a blatant insult to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

A couple of weeks back the results for appointment to vacancies of Probationary Officers and Banking Associates for J&K Bank were cancelled all of a sudden by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in an 8pm news brief. The notification to the said exams were issued in 2018. One year and a half is a very long time for recruitment, and then suddenly & mindlessly the notification is revoked. Almost 1.5 lakh aspirants had written the exam. The joke is on the Governance structure in Jammu and Kashmir. It wasn’t in the interests of the students who had paid 1000 and 800 rupees as exam fee, spent money on coaching and books, left out of their jobs, prepared for almost 8 months, and waited for the results next 8 months. The exam was conducted by IBPS (Indian Banking Personnel Selection). How is it that the exams were cancelled on the pretext of irregularities in recruitment? We reiterate our request for the declaration of the results of the vacancies of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.

The youth of Jammu and Kashmir have been to the pushed to the wall. From last four to five years, miniscule vacancies have been notified and there are allegations of irregularities in almost all recruitments. Our college degrees, medals, certificates, achievements have reduced to trash values.

We the youth of Jammu and Kashmir humbly request you to kindly protect the interests of the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir at all levels of Government Service. If there is no policy intervention now, you may have shattered and destroyed a generation of qualified youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
