I request to the honorable President of India to intervene and change the decision of the Supreme Court of India regarding use of crackers in Delhi. Sir, diwali is the biggest and the most auspicious festival for Hindus. There is a special enthusiasm of this celebration among all ages. Honorable Supreme Court of India has today banned the sale & use of crackers in Delhi & NCR. Sir, this is a direct assault on the religious beliefs of 80 per cent population of this country. I am deeply hurt by the decision as such decisions are never made against any other religious festivals like Id or whatsoever. Secularism doesn't mean that we Hindus will be deprived of the basic way of celebration of our festival. Tomorrow the court may say that the Hindu way of cremation creates pollution, day after tomorrow another judgement may ban the festival of Holi. Sir, this all is in continuation of banning Jalli-Kuttu of south India and banning the festival Dahi-Handi in Mumbai. Why again and again we Hindus are targeted and why the honorable court is so soft towards the rest of the communities, just because we are peace lovers? Sir, I request you to look into the matter urgently and hope you will return smiles on millions of the small children of Delhi who are just waiting with great enthusiasm to celebrate their festival.
