Srinivasu Malladi started this petition to President of India and

Its been 10 long years that I am living with this Ignominy of being the only candidate who secured rank in Civil Services exam but was denied appointment only because of being diabetic.

I am M. Srinivasu who cleared the Civil Services Examination - 2008 conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) with Roll No 092794. Having secured 814 rank, I have been recommended for appointment to Government of India (DoPT) by UPSC in the month of September 2010 after it has declared its Second Merit List of successful candidates of CSE (Main) Examination 2008. But to my utter surprise, i have been rejected for being Diabetic - a life style disorder which is most common today.

All these years, I have been living with mental agony and disturbance in my life as to why that after spending countless days and nights preparing and successfully clearing the Civil Services Examination, that I had to suffer such a humiliation and discrimination with which I am unable to come to terms even after passage of ten years.

This issue is not something which can be brushed aside as old or done under the realm of government rules, it has broader and much fundamental questions about our policy towards people facing certain genetic or other disabilities. It is also about can our system correct an injustice even if it is delayed as the issues involved are of such fundamental in nature that it effects public policy and recruitment rules of our country.
