Why this petition matters

Started by M. Jacobs

Slavery was used for thousands of years to oppress, particularly, people of color.

We have made a great start in tearing down statues that were constructed by or representative of slave owners, but what about ancient monuments and buildings?

Should they be given a "free pass", just because they're old?

It's disputed if the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt were actually built by slaves, but what isn't disputed is that the Pharaohs were the most prolific slave owners in history and Egypt as a nation continued engaging in slavery even after it stopped in the United States.

It's time to say to the Egyptian government, enough is enough.  Let's stop the hate, and knock down the Pyramids.   Let's seize the masks of oppression contained in the museums of Cairo and melt down the gold and give that money back to the descendants of slaves as reparations for suffering of past generations.

Let's approach the Mexican government and tell them that slavery by the Aztecs was unacceptable and let's remove all trace of it.

Let's approach the Greek government and flatten the Parthenon of Greece that was built by slaves.  While it may been built to worship a female goddess, that does not excuse the hatred and suffering it's construction caused.

Let's erase these monuments of hate so we can, as a society, take a step forward together.  Only Marxism can lead us.
