President Obama: Do not cut Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security

Obama’s seeking a “grand bargain” with the Republican-controlled House by January 1, 2013.

In order to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff,” he is willing to raise Medicare’s eligibility age from 65 to 67 and to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security by $650 billion. This is no joking matter--these changes would mean life and death to the most vulnerable in our country.

We ask the Congress and the President:

Do NOT cut Medicare or raise its eligibility age from 65. Do NOT cut Medicaid. Instead, pass improved Medicare-for-all (HR 676) in order to create a truly universal healthcare system that will also reduce the deficit and save Americans $500 billion a year on healthcare costs.

Do NOT cut Social Security or raise the retirement age. Instead, save the system by removing the $110,000 income cap on high-earners paying into Social Security.

Join us in sending this message to President Obama and your Congresspeople: Medicare is the solution - not the problem. We need improved Medicare for all NOW!

The President of the United States
It's clear that President Obama and House Republicans are looking for a so-called "grand bargain" that threatens Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

Do NOT cut Medicare or raise its eligibility age from 65. Don't cut Medicaid.
