President Obama: Discuss your plan to combat climate change during the 2nd inaugural address
2012 was the hottest year on record for the United States. Severe drought led to widespread crop failure; massive storms wreaked havoc on the eastern seaboard; wildfires raged throughout the summer; Arctic sea ice shattered the previous record low; and the Greenland ice sheet saw the greatest melt in recorded history. We cannot afford to put off action today that may mitigate the damage that is and will occur in the future. By addressing climate change in the inaugural address, President Obama can elevate the urgency of the issue and indicate that he is serious about taking corrective action.
Show that you are serious about climate change. Discuss your plan to combat climate change during the 2nd inaugural address. After all, the United States is second behind only China as the country with the highest annual CO2 emissions. We can lead by example if we take concrete steps to lessen our greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to curb climate change.
